How to use

Summarize a numerical data set with mean, median, mode and range, plus sum, count, minimum and maximum. Seeing these together is useful because each statistic describes a different feature of the data.

  1. Paste or type numbers separated by commas, spaces, semicolons or line breaks.
  2. The calculator sorts a copy of the data and computes the main descriptive statistics.
  3. Review mean, median, mode, range and the rest of the summary together.

How it is calculated

Mean = sum ÷ count; median is the middle sorted value; range = maximum − minimum

Example

Example: for 4, 7, 7, 9, 10, the sum is 37, mean is 7.4, median is 7, mode is 7 and range is 6 because 10 − 4 = 6.

Important notes

If several values share the highest repeated frequency, all of them are reported as modes. If every value occurs only once, Mihsaba reports no repeated mode. Input is limited to 500 values to keep the page responsive.

Frequently asked questions

How are mean and median different?

Mean uses the sum of every value; median is the middle sorted value and can be less sensitive to outliers.

Can a data set have multiple modes?

Yes. Every value tied for the highest repeated frequency is reported as a mode.

Are negative and decimal values supported?

Yes, as long as they are entered as valid numeric values and clearly separated.

Is this calculator free?

Yes. It is free to use and requires no account.
