MihsabaRunning Pace Calculator

Running Pace Calculator

Solve running pace, finish time or distance from two known values, with min/km, min/mi, speed and same-pace projections for common race distances.

How to use

Running distance, time and pace form a three-variable relationship: any two determine the third. Choose the unknown, enter the other two and get pace per kilometer and mile, average speed and same-pace times for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon.

  1. Choose pace, finish time or distance and select km or mi for the entered distance/pace unit.
  2. Enter the two known quantities using hours, minutes and seconds where needed.
  3. Review the result, both pace units, average speed and same-pace race times.

How it is calculated

Pace = time ÷ distance; time = pace × distance; distance = time ÷ pace

Example

Running 5 km in 25 minutes gives 5:00 per km, about 8:03 per mile and an average speed of 12 km/h. Holding exactly that pace gives a linear 10K time of 50:00.

Important notes

The race-distance times are linear same-pace projections, not performance predictions. Fatigue, terrain, weather and training change sustainable pace as distance changes. This is an informational planning tool, not medical or individualized coaching advice.

Frequently asked questions

How is pace calculated from time and distance?

Divide total time by distance after using consistent units; 25 minutes ÷ 5 km = 5 minutes/km.

Are min/km and km/h the same thing?

No. Pace is time per distance; speed is distance per time, so they move in opposite directions.

Is the marathon time a prediction?

No. It is the theoretical time if the exact same average pace were held for 42.195 km.

Is this calculator free?

Yes. It is free to use and requires no account.
