How to use
This age calculator measures the calendar difference between a birth date and a reference date you choose rather than using a rough day-based approximation. It reports completed years, months and days, then adds completed months, total weeks and days, birth weekday, next birthday and the days remaining until it.
- Enter the date of birth.
- Keep the reference date as today or choose another past or future date to calculate age on that day.
- Review years, months and days, then completed months, total weeks and total days.
- Check the birth weekday, next birthday and countdown.
How it is calculated
Example
Example: from January 1, 2000 to October 1, 2026, the calendar age is 26 years, 9 months and 0 days, or 321 completed months. Total days are counted from the actual civil dates, so varying month lengths and leap years are handled automatically.
Important notes
Calendar age depends on conventions for month-end dates. In this calculator, a February 29 birth anniversary is clamped to February 28 in non-leap years for calculation purposes only; a legal or administrative authority may use another convention. This page calculates Gregorian calendar age and does not claim to provide an exact Hijri age.
Worked examples and interpreting results
A person born on 1 January 2000 is exactly 25 on the reference date 1 January 2025. Total months are 300; total days are 9132 because leap years matter.
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Completed years | 2025 − 2000 | 25 |
| Completed calendar months | 25 × 12 | 300 |
How to check the result
Set reference date to 2025-01-01 to reproduce this on any day. Do not use 25 times 365 for total days or a fixed month length for calendar age.
Frequently asked questions
How can I calculate my age on a specific date?
Change the reference date to the day you want, and the tool calculates from the birth date to that date.
What is the difference between exact age and total days?
Exact age is expressed in calendar years, months and days; total days counts every civil day between the two dates.
Does the calculator handle leap years?
Yes for Gregorian date and day calculations. It also uses an explicit February 29 convention in non-leap years.
How is the next birthday calculated?
It uses the birth month and day in the reference year, or the following year if that anniversary has already passed.
Can I calculate age on a future date?
Yes, as long as the reference date is not earlier than the birth date.
Does this calculate Hijri age?
No. This version focuses on Gregorian calendar age rather than presenting an approximate Hijri conversion as exact.
