Important notes
Unit conversion does not determine the density of a material. Real material density can vary with temperature, pressure, composition and moisture. Specific gravity is a dimensionless ratio to a stated reference, so it should not automatically be treated as another density unit.
Frequently asked questions
Are g/cm³ and g/mL the same?
Yes numerically, because 1 mL is exactly 1 cm³.
Why does the converter specify US gallon?
US and imperial gallons have different volumes, so naming the gallon prevents using the wrong factor.
Can density be negative here?
No. This general mass-density converter accepts ordinary non-negative density values.
