How to use
GPA is a credit-weighted average. To avoid assuming one institution’s letter-grade table, you enter each course’s grade points directly on a 4.0 or 5.0 scale. Prior GPA/credits and a future target are optional.
- Choose a 4.0 or 5.0 scale.
- Enter grade points and credits for each used course; leave unused rows blank.
- Add prior GPA and credits together if you want cumulative GPA.
- Optionally enter a target GPA and future credits to estimate the needed future GPA.
How it is calculated
Example
Two courses: 4.0×3 credits and 3.0×3 credits produce 21 quality points over 6 credits, so term GPA = 3.50. With 30 prior credits at 3.20, the updated cumulative GPA is about 3.25.
Important notes
Letter-grade and percentage-to-point mappings vary across institutions and programs. Use your school’s official grade-point values; this is a planning estimate, not an official transcript.
Frequently asked questions
Does it support a 5.0 scale?
Yes. Select 5.0 and the tool validates all grade points and GPA values against that maximum.
Can courses have different credit values?
Yes. Higher-credit courses carry more weight in the weighted average.
What if the target is impossible?
If the required future GPA exceeds the selected scale maximum, the tool marks the target unreachable with those inputs.
Is this calculator free?
Yes. It is free to use and requires no account.
