How to use
- Enter Cleaning.
- Enter Repairs.
- Enter Marketing.
- Enter Vacancy days.
- Enter Lost daily rent.
- Calculate, then verify which items are included in the definition before comparing.
How it is calculated
Turnover cost = cleaning + repairs + marketing + vacancy days × daily rent
Example
Cleaning 800, repairs 2,500, marketing 700 and 15 vacant days at 200 give 3,000 vacancy cost and 7,000 total turnover cost.
Important notes
Include costs genuinely caused by turnover. Recurring expenses paid regardless of turnover should not be attributed twice.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Vacancy cost | 15 × 200 | 3,000 |
| Total turnover cost | 800 + 2500 + 700 + 3000 | 7,000 |
Frequently asked questions
Is a returned security deposit a turnover cost?
Not by itself if it is a refundable liability; count only actual owner costs under the lease and law.
Are these rates legally required?
No. This is a general math tool; actual fees, rates and rules vary by contract, provider and jurisdiction.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same period and cost definitions, and change one variable at a time where possible.
