Torque is the moment of a force about an axis, with N·m as the SI unit. This converter normalizes every input to newton-metres and then converts to the chosen target while preserving sign when it represents rotational direction.

How it is calculated

Convert through N·m: target = value × source factor in N·m ÷ target factor in N·m

Example

Example: 100 N·m ≈ 73.7562 lbf·ft, ≈ 885.0746 lbf·in and ≈ 10.1972 kgf·m. Also, 1 kgf·m = 9.80665 N·m.

Important notes

Although N·m has the same dimensional product as a joule, torque and energy are different physical quantities and should not be interchanged. Factors for kgf·m, lbf·ft, lbf·in, ozf·in and dyn·cm follow standard conversion relationships; kgf uses standard gravity 9.80665 m/s².
