Worked examples and interpreting results
One square meter equals 10000 cm² because each side of a 1 m square measures 100 cm. Area conversion squares the length factor, and one hectare equals 10000 m².

How to check the result
A square meter is not a linear meter; conversion between them requires another dimension. For a rectangle, calculate length times width first, then convert the resulting area unit rather than treating area as length.
