How to use
Calculate flooring area with waste and the whole packs required from room area and pack coverage.
- Enter Floor area (m²).
- Enter Coverage per pack (m²).
- Enter Waste (%).
- Calculate, then review the assumptions before purchasing.
How it is calculated
Example
For 45 m² with 2.2 m² per pack and 10% waste, the adjusted area is 49.5 m² and 23 packs are required.
Important notes
Use the net area actually being covered and the coverage printed on the product. Layout direction and pattern matching can increase waste.
Worked examples and interpreting results
For 45 m² with 2.2 m² per pack and 10% waste, the adjusted area is 49.5 m² and 23 packs are required.
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Area after waste | 45 × 1.10 | 49.5 m² |
| Whole packs | ceil(49.5 ÷ 2.2) | 23 |
How to check the result
Use the net area actually being covered and the coverage printed on the product. Layout direction and pattern matching can increase waste.
Frequently asked questions
Why are packs rounded up?
A fraction of a pack is normally not purchasable, so the calculator rounds the pack count upward.
Should I include waste?
Include an allowance when cuts, breakage or layout losses are expected. Use a percentage that fits your project rather than assuming one fixed rate.
Do the units need to match?
Yes. The calculator assumes the units stated beside each field, so convert measurements first when your source uses different units.
