How it is calculated
Double-time pay = base rate × 2 × hours
Example
A base rate of 40 with 5 double-time hours gives 80 per hour and 400 total.
Important notes
Use this only when a 2× multiplier actually applies to the hours in question.
Worked examples and interpreting results

| Total | 80 × 5 | 400 |
Frequently asked questions
Is double time the same as overtime?
Not necessarily. Double time specifically means 2×, while overtime may use another multiplier.
Is the result a guaranteed take-home pay?
No. Taxes, insurance, allowances and deductions vary by employer and jurisdiction; use the calculator as a mathematical estimate only.
Should time periods be consistent?
Yes. When comparing pay, hours or deductions, keep the same period so weekly, monthly and annual figures are not mixed.
