Hydraulic Press Calculator

Calculate output force from Pascal’s principle using piston force and areas, with ideal pressure and force multiplication ratio.

These are ideal fluid models; viscosity, losses, friction, compressibility and real-system efficiency are excluded unless stated.

How to use

In an ideal hydraulic system, Pascal’s principle transmits the same pressure between pistons, so force scales with piston area.

  1. Enter F₁ and A₁.
  2. Enter A₂.
  3. Review pressure, F₂ and multiplication ratio.

How it is calculated

F₁/A₁=F₂/A₂=P

Example

100 N on 0.001 m² gives 100 kPa; with A₂=0.01 m², ideal F₂ is 1000 N.

Important notes

Higher force comes with lower large-piston displacement and approximate work conservation; friction, compliance and losses reduce real performance.

Frequently asked questions

Does it create energy?

No; force gain trades against displacement.

Same pressure everywhere?

In the ideal static approximation at similar elevation.

Are inputs diameters?

No, piston areas.
