How to use
Pressure in a static fluid rises with depth by ρgh. The tool reports gauge pressure from the fluid column and optionally absolute pressure including surface pressure.
- Enter density and gravity.
- Enter depth.
- Optionally enter surface pressure.
- Review gauge/absolute pressure.
How it is calculated
Pg=ρgh; Pabs=Psurface+ρgh
Example
Water at 1000 kg/m³ and 10 m depth adds about 98.1 kPa.
Important notes
Assumes a static incompressible fluid with constant density and gravity.
Frequently asked questions
Gauge vs absolute?
Gauge here is the fluid-column contribution; absolute adds surface pressure.
Does density vary?
Not in this model.
Is h vertical?
Yes.
