How to use
- Enter One-way distance km.
- Enter Commute days per month.
- Enter Consumption L/100 km.
- Enter Price per litre.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
Distance = one-way × 2 × days; fuel = distance × consumption ÷ 100
Example
A 25 km one-way commute for 22 days is 1,100 km monthly, 88 litres at 8 L/100 km, costing 193.6 at 2.2 per litre.
Important notes
If you work remotely on some days or car-share, use actual driving days rather than total working days.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Distance | 25 × 2 × 22 | 1,100 |
| Fuel | 1100 × 8 ÷ 100 | 88 |
| Cost | 88 × 2.2 | 193.6 |
Frequently asked questions
Does this include tolls or parking?
No. This calculator covers fuel only; add tolls and parking separately.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
