  1. Enter Fuel cost.
  2. Enter Tolls.
  3. Enter Parking.
  4. Enter Lodging.
  5. Enter Food.
  6. Enter Other costs.
  7. Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.

How it is calculated

Total = fuel + tolls + parking + lodging + food + other

Example

Fuel 150, tolls 50, parking 20, lodging 300, food 200 and other 80 give 650 non-fuel costs and an 800 trip total.

Important notes

Use costs from the same trip and period. Do not mix annual costs such as insurance into one trip unless you deliberately allocate them.

Frequently asked questions

Should vehicle maintenance be added?

You can include an allocated amount under other costs if desired, but use a consistent method when comparing trips.

Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?

It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.

How should two scenarios be compared?

Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
