How to use
- Enter Tank capacity litres.
- Enter Current fuel litres.
- Enter Price per litre.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
Litres to fill = tank capacity − current fuel; cost = litres × price
Example
A 60-litre tank containing 20 litres needs 40 litres to fill; at 2.2 per litre the cost is 88.
Important notes
Do not enter current fuel above tank capacity. Actual fill volume may differ slightly because of tank shape, reserve and gauge behaviour.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Litres to fill | 60 − 20 | 40 |
| Cost | 40 × 2.2 | 88 |
Frequently asked questions
What if the tank is already full?
If current fuel equals capacity, litres to fill and fill cost are zero.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
