How to use
- Enter Weight kg.
- Enter Volume m³.
- Calculate, then review units, cost scope and billing rule before comparing.
How it is calculated
Density = weight kg ÷ volume m³
Example
A package weighing 36 kg with 0.072 m³ volume has a density of 500 kg per cubic metre.
Important notes
Use weight and volume for the same package scope. Do not combine product-only weight with outer carton volume when measuring full shipment density.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Density | 36 ÷ 0.072 | 500 |
| Weight | 36 | 36 |
Frequently asked questions
Does density directly determine shipping price?
Not always, though it helps explain weight-versus-volume efficiency and can influence some freight rules.
Is the result an actual carrier quote?
No. The calculator applies your inputs mathematically; carriers may use minimums, zones, tiers, fees and different rounding rules.
What matters most before comparing?
Keep units, period and cost scope consistent, and know whether pricing uses actual, dimensional or chargeable weight.
