How it is calculated
Example
Eighty hours at 100 gives an 8,000 base fee; with 15% contingency, the buffer is 1,200 and suggested fee is 9,200.
Important notes
Contingency is not guaranteed profit; it is room for estimation risk and small changes, while scope and change terms should remain explicit in the contract.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Base fee | 80 × 100 | 8,000 |
| Contingency | 8000 × 15 ÷ 100 | 1,200 |
| Suggested fee | 8000 + 1200 | 9,200 |
Frequently asked questions
Does the fee include VAT or sales tax?
This calculator does not add tax automatically; handle tax according to local rules and how you quote the client.
Is the result a mandatory client price?
No. It is a planning result from your inputs; final pricing depends on scope, market, contract, taxes and risk.
Should I use monthly or annual figures?
Keep all inputs on the same period so annual income is not mixed with monthly hours or expenses.
