How to use
- Enter Rent collected.
- Enter Rent billed.
- Calculate, then verify which items are included in the definition before comparing.
How it is calculated
Collection rate = rent collected ÷ rent billed × 100
Example
Collecting 95,000 out of 100,000 billed gives a 95% collection rate and a 5,000 gap.
Important notes
Collection can exceed 100% when prior-period arrears are received. Separate current-period collections from arrears for clean comparisons.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Collection rate | 95000 ÷ 100000 × 100 | 95 % |
| Uncollected | 100000 − 95000 | 5,000 |
Frequently asked questions
Why can the rate exceed 100%?
Collections may include old arrears. Adjust numerator or denominator if measuring only current-period rent.
Are these rates legally required?
No. This is a general math tool; actual fees, rates and rules vary by contract, provider and jurisdiction.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same period and cost definitions, and change one variable at a time where possible.
