How to use
- Enter Shipping cost.
- Enter Chargeable weight kg.
- Calculate, then review units, cost scope and billing rule before comparing.
How it is calculated
Cost/kg = shipping cost ÷ chargeable weight
Example
A shipping cost of 120 on 12 kg chargeable weight gives an average of 10 per kilogram.
Important notes
Average cost per kg does not imply a linear tariff. Fixed fees, minimums and tiers can make the marginal kilogram cost different.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Per kg | 120 ÷ 12 | 10 |
| Shipping cost | 120 | 120 |
Frequently asked questions
Should I use actual or dimensional weight?
Use the weight the carrier will bill, usually chargeable weight after comparison.
Is the result an actual carrier quote?
No. The calculator applies your inputs mathematically; carriers may use minimums, zones, tiers, fees and different rounding rules.
What matters most before comparing?
Keep units, period and cost scope consistent, and know whether pricing uses actual, dimensional or chargeable weight.
