How to use
- Enter Energy added kWh.
- Enter Price per kWh.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
Charging cost = energy added kWh × electricity price per kWh
Example
Adding 50 kWh at an electricity price of 0.18 per kWh gives a calculated charging cost of 9.
Important notes
If the charger adds session, time or time-of-use fees, add those separately because this simple calculation covers energy price only.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Charging cost | 50 × 0.18 | 9 |
| Energy | 50 | 50 |
Frequently asked questions
Does this include charging losses?
If you enter metered grid energy, losses are already reflected; battery-only energy may require a loss adjustment.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
