How to use
- Enter Usable battery kWh.
- Enter Consumption kWh/100 km.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
Range = usable battery kWh ÷ kWh/100 km × 100
Example
A usable 70 kWh battery at 18 kWh/100 km gives an arithmetic range of about 388.89 km.
Important notes
Keep a margin for weather, contingencies and charger availability. Calculated range is not a guarantee because consumption can rise during the trip.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Range | 70 ÷ 18 × 100 | 388.888889 |
| kWh/km | 18 ÷ 100 | 0.18 |
Frequently asked questions
Should I use gross battery capacity?
Prefer usable battery capacity when known rather than gross nominal capacity.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
