Estimate fuel required and trip cost from distance, vehicle efficiency and fuel price. The tool supports kilometers or miles, L/100 km, km/L and US MPG, plus round trips and optional cost splitting.

Enter the one-way distance and choose km or miles.
Enter vehicle efficiency and its unit, then fuel price per liter or US gallon.
Choose one way or round trip, enter the number sharing the cost, and calculate.

How it is calculated

Fuel used = distance × normalized consumption; cost = fuel used × normalized price per liter

Example

Example: 500 km at 7 L/100 km with fuel priced at 2.18 per liter uses about 35 liters and costs 76.30 one way. Selecting round trip doubles the distance, fuel and estimated cost.

Important notes

This is a planning estimate, not an actual receipt. Real consumption changes with traffic, speed, load, weather, tire pressure and terrain. MPG uses the US gallon only; US-gallon prices are converted using 3.785411784 liters. Tolls, parking and non-fuel costs are excluded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between L/100 km and km/L?

L/100 km measures fuel used per distance, where lower is better; km/L measures distance per liter, where higher is better.

Is MPG US or Imperial?

This calculator uses US MPG only so the gallon definition is unambiguous.

Does cost per person include all trip expenses?

No. It divides only the estimated fuel cost.
