How to use
- Enter Current salary.
- Enter Decrease %.
- Calculate, then verify pay, hours and percentages refer to the same period.
How it is calculated
New salary = current salary × (1 − reduction % ÷ 100)
Example
A salary of 10,000 with a 10% reduction means a 1,000 decrease and new salary of 9,000.
Important notes
Do not use more than 100% because that does not represent a normal salary reduction in this calculator.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Decrease | 10000 × 10 ÷ 100 | 1,000 |
| New salary | 10000 − 1000 | 9,000 |
Frequently asked questions
Does a 100% reduction give zero salary?
Yes mathematically in this calculator because the full entered amount is removed.
Is the result a guaranteed take-home pay?
No. Taxes, insurance, allowances and deductions vary by employer and jurisdiction; use the calculator as a mathematical estimate only.
Should time periods be consistent?
Yes. When comparing pay, hours or deductions, keep the same period so weekly, monthly and annual figures are not mixed.
