How to use
- Enter Annual generation kWh.
- Enter Self-consumption %.
- Enter Electricity price/kWh.
- Calculate, then review power, price and period before comparing.
How it is calculated
Example
Generation of 7,200 kWh with 70% self-consumption means 5,040 kWh used directly; at 0.18 the estimated savings are 907.2.
Important notes
This formula does not value grid exports, interconnection fees or tariff changes. Add them separately when export credits or net metering apply.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Self-used energy | 7200 × 70 ÷ 100 | 5,040 |
| Savings | 5040 × 0.18 | 907.2 |
Frequently asked questions
Is self-consumption the same as solar coverage?
No. Self-consumption measures how much generation you use directly; coverage compares solar energy with total demand.
Is the result an actual utility bill?
No. It is a calculation from your usage, price and inputs; real tariffs, taxes and fixed fees may add other items.
How can I improve accuracy?
Use measured or device-specific power and usage plus the actual electricity price for the same period.
