How to use
- Enter Peak kWh.
- Enter Peak price/kWh.
- Enter Off-peak kWh.
- Enter Off-peak price/kWh.
- Calculate, then review power, price and period before comparing.
How it is calculated
Total = peak kWh × peak price + off-peak kWh × off-peak price
Example
200 kWh at 0.25 costs 50 and 400 kWh at 0.12 costs 48; total cost is 98 with an average of about 0.1633 per kWh.
Important notes
Make sure the peak and off-peak periods in your tariff match the consumption data. Unclassified hours may require a third tariff period.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Peak cost | 200 × 0.25 | 50 |
| Off-peak cost | 400 × 0.12 | 48 |
| Total | 50 + 48 | 98 |
| Average price | 98 ÷ 600 | 0.163333 |
Frequently asked questions
Is the average a new tariff rate?
No. It is the weighted average of the consumption you entered across the two prices.
Is the result an actual utility bill?
No. It is a calculation from your usage, price and inputs; real tariffs, taxes and fixed fees may add other items.
How can I improve accuracy?
Use measured or device-specific power and usage plus the actual electricity price for the same period.
