How to use
- Enter Distance km.
- Enter Consumption L/100 km.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
Fuel needed = distance × consumption ÷ 100
Example
A 500 km distance at 8 L/100 km requires 40 litres, equivalent to 0.08 litre per kilometre.
Important notes
Add a practical reserve if fuel stations are sparse or consumption is uncertain; the result represents expected usage only.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel needed | 500 × 8 ÷ 100 | 40 |
| Per km | 8 ÷ 100 | 0.08 |
Frequently asked questions
Does this include a fuel reserve?
No. It covers expected consumption only; add a reserve appropriate for the route.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
