How to use
- Enter Usable fuel litres.
- Enter Consumption L/100 km.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
Range = usable fuel ÷ L/100 km × 100
Example
With 55 usable litres and 8 L/100 km consumption, the arithmetic driving range is about 687.5 km.
Important notes
Do not plan to reach zero fuel. Real range changes with speed, temperature, route and load, so keep a suitable safety margin.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Estimated range | 55 ÷ 8 × 100 | 687.5 |
| Litres per km | 8 ÷ 100 | 0.08 |
Frequently asked questions
Will this match the car's range display?
Not necessarily. The car may use recent driving history and conditions, while this calculator uses fixed inputs.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
