How to use
- Enter Fuel used litres.
- Enter Distance km.
- Calculate, then review units and consumption or cost assumptions before comparing.
How it is calculated
L/100 km = fuel used ÷ distance × 100
Example
Using 40 litres over 500 km gives 8 L/100 km and an equivalent economy of 12.5 km per litre.
Important notes
For a better real-world measure, use several fill-ups or full-to-full records because one short trip can be distorted by traffic or temporary conditions.
Worked examples and interpreting results
| Case | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Consumption | 40 ÷ 500 × 100 | 8 |
| Km/L | 500 ÷ 40 | 12.5 |
Frequently asked questions
Is a lower number better?
For L/100 km, a lower number means less fuel used for the same distance.
Is the result an estimate or an actual cost?
It is a calculation based on your inputs. Actual prices, consumption and fees can vary by vehicle, route and energy source.
How should two scenarios be compared?
Use the same distance, period and units, and change one variable at a time where possible.
